How to Prepare for a Mobile IV Therapy Appointment

A practical checklist for medical updates, your treatment space, questions to ask, and the aftercare plan.

A mobile IV appointment should feel organized before the clinician arrives. A little preparation helps your care team understand your needs, set up safely, and give you accurate expectations for the visit.

Start with an accurate health update

Your eligibility depends on more than the service you selected. Before the appointment, make sure the care team has current information about:

  • Medical conditions, recent procedures, pregnancy status, and prior reactions to injections or infusions.
  • Prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements.
  • Medication, adhesive, latex, food, or other relevant allergies.
  • New symptoms, recent illness, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes since your medical review.

If anything has changed, contact the team before the clinician travels to you. A service may need to be adjusted, rescheduled, or redirected to a different level of care.

Follow the instructions you receive

Your clinician’s directions take priority because preparation can vary by service and health history. Do not stop a prescribed medication, fast, or take extra supplements unless a qualified medical professional specifically tells you to do so.

Unless your care team gives different instructions, wear comfortable clothing that allows access to your arm and have a light layer or blanket nearby. Keep your photo identification, medication list, allergy information, and any requested forms available.

Create a clean, comfortable space

  • Choose a stable chair or couch with room for the clinician and equipment.
  • Provide a clean, well-lit surface and keep pets away from the treatment area.
  • Have reliable phone access and share clear parking or entry instructions.
  • Plan enough uninterrupted time for setup, assessment, treatment, and aftercare guidance.

Do not use a routine wellness appointment for an emergency

Call 911 for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms such as chest pain, trouble breathing, loss of consciousness, confusion, seizure, or signs of heatstroke. Contact the ProIV team before arrival if you are acutely ill or unsure whether mobile care is appropriate.

Questions worth asking

  • What screening or medical evaluation is required?
  • Who will administer the treatment, and how are they licensed?
  • What ingredients are planned, and what are the possible risks or side effects?
  • How long should I reserve, and what follow-up is available after the visit?

Before the clinician leaves

Make sure you understand the aftercare instructions, what mild local reactions may occur, which symptoms should prompt a call, and how to reach the team. Avoid making assumptions based on a previous appointment; the plan can change when your health or treatment changes.
